Customer FAQ
Q: What is an eBook? A: An eBook is merely an electronic version of a book. You can download eBooks to your personal computer or a handheld reading device. Q: Why would I want to buy an electronic version of a book? A: eBooks are typically less expensive because the costs of publishing are less than for paperbacks. They are ecologically sound. The integrity will not diminish. You can purchase an eBook at your convenience without leaving your home or place of work or waiting for a store to open. And there is no need to worry about stock running out. You can literally hold your entire library of books in the palm of your hand. Q: How do I purchase an eBook? A: The first step is to register. Then you can search our catalogue and simply choose your preferred title and add it to your shopping cart. When you finish shopping you can check-out and pay for your purchases. Your books will appear in your library and be available for download as soon as payment is confirmed. This normally takes no more than a couple minutes. Q: How do the eBook Bucks and Gift Certificates work? A: You can purchase ebook bucks, receive them as a gift, or get them as part of a rebate (rebates are delivered to your on-line account in the form of eBook Bucks after purchase). Our system is not set up to allow for payments to be broken between different options. In other words, you can’t pay partially with eBook Bucks and the remainder with Paypal or Credit Card. If the eBook Bucks option isn’t showing up at checkout, it’s likely that the total in your cart is exceeding the eBook Bucks balance. You will need to ensure that you are logged in first. You can also use the "Buy Now" button to utilize your eBook Bucks. But again, you will need to have enough in your account to cover the cost of a particular book. Q: Will it cost me anything to register? A: No. Registration is free. Q: How do I register with ARe? A: Click on the "Register Now" link which is located at the top of all pages. Q: Can I access my library anytime, anywhere? A: Your library, where all of your eBooks can be downloaded, can be accessed via the internet. We selected our Web-host due to their reliability. We experience 99.9% up time, use multiple redundant telecommunications paths and carriers, have secondary power solutions in case of emergencies, RAID mirroring, 24/7 monitoring, backups and security updates. Q: Can I shop simultaneously at All Romance and OmniLit? A: Yes, but you must be logged in on both websites. Q: Is my personal information secure? A: We will never sell your information to another party. We are a Verisign Pro Partner and we have Secure Socket Layer security on our web-site. Our web-server is authenticated upon connection using a digital certificate, all information is encrypted during transmission. Physical access to the data center is protected. In addition, we utilize host-based virus protection, firewalls, intrusion detection scanners, and 24-hour monitoring. Q: How do I search your catalogue to find the books I want to buy? A: On the left side of the page you will find a list of categories. Once a category is selected you may then conduct a secondary sort by highest rated, best selling, most recent, or length. We also allow for primary searches by author, publisher, or title. Q: How do I reset or change my password? A: If you’ve forgotten your password, enter the email address you use to log in, then click on the "Forgot username/password" link located in the top right-hand corner. A new temporary password will be emailed to you. You’ll need to copy and paste that password into the password field to access your account. Once in your account, go to your profile (link is in the upper right-hand corner) and scroll to the bottom of the page. You’ll see a "Password" and a "Verify Password" field. Enter the password you would like to use in both of those fields then click on the "Update" button. The passwords will be saved and the fields will clear. You can then logout and test by logging back in with your new login/password combination. Q: How do I know which format to purchase? Q: What is my Mobipocket PID? A: Every copy of Mobipocket Reader contains a PID, a 10 character code that uniquely identifies that copy of Mobipocket Reader. Upon download, this system uses the PID to tie a Mobipocket eBook you purchase to the device(s) on which you want to read it. At the "My Mobipocket PIDs" screen, you can register up to 3 PIDs to your account, and review previously entered PIDs. Read more about Mobipocket eBooks by following the links above. Q: Can I use the secure materials I purchase from this site on multiple machines? A: Yes. To use Secure Adobe and Secure Adobe ePub eBooks on multiple machines, each machine must first be activated to the same account using the Authorize Computer option. Microsoft Reader ebooks may be moved from computer to computer, as long as each computer has a copy of Microsoft Reader that is activated to the same Passport account as the computer used to download the ebook. You can read Mobipocket eBooks on 3 machines. You need to install Mobipocket Reader on any machine on which you intend to read a Mobipocket eBook. You must then register a Mobipocket PID at this site for each machine on which you intend to read a Mobipocket eBook. Q: Do you have a discount program? A: For every ten purchases, you will receive a code that you may use to download a book for free (see below - certain limitations apply). Codes are delivered to your on-line library and can be found at the bottom. In addition, publishers place works on sale all of the time. Check out our "Discount Books" page for today’s bargains. Q: I’m having trouble using my free book code, can you help me? A: The most common issues around free bookcodes are: 1) The user miskeys when typing the code into the box. Copy and paste the code to avoid keying errors. 2) The user has a free book in their shopping cart. The code will deduct the price of the least expensive book. If they deduct the free book you won’t notice a price change. 3) The user is trying to buy a bundle or one-click buy. The codes are only good for single titles. 4) The user isn’t clicking on the calculate discount button, so the code isn’t being properly applied. 5) The title you are attempting to purchase is over $25.00 and therefore excluded. 6) Effective December 1, 2009 - Codes are set to expire 10 days from the date of issue. Q: Do you give refunds? A: No. We will, however, replace any damaged files. Q: How do the rebates work? A: Rebates are delivered to your on-line account in the form of eBook Bucks after purchase. Q: How do I contact you? A: Click on the contact link that appears at the bottom of every page on the website and complete the form. Q: How do I rate the books that I read? A: You may rate each book that you’ve read. The rating system is a five-point scale, with 1 being least enjoyed and 5 being most enjoyed. Readers may only rate books that they have personally downloaded. Q: How are the top rated lists calculated? A: The Top 10 Reader Rated list is based on the mean (simple average) score for the past 60 days. In order to be considered eligible for the top rated a book will had to have had 5 ratings. That overall score is also reflected on each book detail page. When you use the Top Rated category sort, for example sorting by Top Rated in Contemporary, the ranking returned reflects only the last 30 days of sales. Lastly, the Highest Rated books that appear at the top of the category page is based on the last 3 days of sales. Q: How are the bestselling ratings calculated? A: The rating reported is based on the average sales per day for the prior thirty (30) days. In order to be considered "eligible" for the bestsellers a book will have had to have a minimum of 10 sales. We also have a host of share buttons, including Facebook "Like" buttons on every book detail page. Q: Do you have a gift certificate program or a way for me to keep an account balance? A: Yes! Secure eBooks do have limitations and once those are exceeded, an error message will display. Sometimes links for secure titles can be re-activated, but we will require the original order number to make that request. Also, you should note that publishers can remove content at any time. Our Terms of Use state that any issues with downloads should be reported within 72 hours from purchase. Like all of the valuable content on your computer, your ebook library should be backed up. A: No. You must order eBooks on-line through the ARe site at www.allromanceebooks.com Q: Can I pay for eBooks with a check? A: Sorry, no. We accept Visa, Mastercard, and Paypal only. Q: How is pricing determined? A: Pricing is set by the publisher of the work. Q: Can you explain your "heat" rating system? A: Sure! 1 flame- Stories will either not have consummated love scenes, or if the loves scenes are consummated detail is not given. 2 flames- Stories will have some love scenes. These will be more sensual then graphic and will mostly rely on euphemism. 3 flames- Stories will have sensual, yet more explicit love scenes, and the language used to describe them may be more graphic and direct. 4 flames- Stories have frequent love scenes that are explicit and described using graphic and direct language. 5 flames- Stories have a high frequency of love scenes that are explicit, described using graphic and direct language, and/or contain subject matter that some readers may consider objectionable.
