She let a little nervous giggle go, but she couldn’t let this go on. Oh, God how many times had she said that to herself. Only moments ago, they engaged in silly banter, her desperate attempt to disguise her feelings, afraid to love him completely, hold nothing back. She shoved him away and ran to the door. If she didn’t, she’d give in and that would be the mistake of her life. There’d be no going back. “Jamie, oh, Jamie,” she begged him, craving his arms, his kisses, the heat of his passion, but she clawed her feelings aside. “I…” her voice trailed in hopelessness.

Hellfire leapt to his eyes and though he let her pass, it wasn’t without venting all the fury and heat churning up in his soul. “A bloody tease, are you?” he snorted, his voice betraying his dangerously, wounded pride.

A tease? Oh, God if he only knew…she heard herself gasp.

He laughed as she picked up her bag. “All that howling longing, bottled up and begging to be satisfied. I could take you now, here. Up against the wall or on the floor, any damn where I please!
