Excerpt:
I gave up trying to read and left the book on the empty seat beside me, thinking that somebody should have a chance to read it. Boarding for my flight was announced and I gathered up my things to wait in yet another line. "Excuse me, is this the line for flight 317?" said a lightly-accented voice from a good bit behind me. My skin tingled and I didn't have to turn around to know it was Him. I looked anyway. And then I did something incredibly smart or inexplicably stupid. The verdict's still out. I interrupted the helpful old bag that was trying to help him. "Hey! I was wondering when you'd get here." He looked confused at first and then clarity flashed across his face. He walked past the dozen passengers in line and stopped beside me, like it was the only place he was supposed to be. After a few minutes of uncomfortable silence, broken only when I needed to scoot my bag up as the line moved, he finally spoke. "Thank you for that, Miss..." He said. ""Myra. And you're welcome." I put on my best carefree smile. "I'm Derrick. At least all the good seats won't be taken by the time we board," he offered. I nodded, scrambling to think of something witty, yet flirty to say. I came up empty. Why was that always the case? I wish my phone had an app for that. It could be called iCEBREAKERS 2.0. "So, do you come here often?" His eyes twinkled as he spoke the generic come-on. I couldn't help it, I laughed louder than I meant to. I blushed. Then rounded out the Idiot-trifecta with a semi-stutter. "Uh...some...Sure. I live for claustrophobic, virus breeding exposure scenarios." Way to sound like a dork, I thought. He smiled though, so I hadn't run him off with my effortless charisma. "You're not really claustrophobic are you?" He looked at me with mock-seriousness. "No, not really." I said. He grinned, flashing his perfect teeth at me. "Good, then we don't have to rule out meeting in the bathroom later."
