Description
Bakery owner Valentine Benington’s day just went from the best of her life to the worst. Toronto Tribune reviewer, David Fraser, shows up for a review just after a fire comes close to destroying her kitchen. After David's last assignment, which ended with food poisoning, it’s not the best of starts, especially since the job is a last-minute thing. He doesn't expect to run into a woman from his past. First looks can be deceiving. The food isn’t the only thing on the menu he’d like to taste. When these two get baking, the flames from the oven aren’t the only thing setting the kitchen on fire. Excerpt:
Her voice trailed off as she laid eyes on the customer inside her store. She couldn’t believe who stood in front of her. To say he was gorgeous would be an understatement. Those piercing green eyes put her in a trance like they’d done years ago. She already felt lost in them all over again. With those eyes came a perfectly chiselled jaw, just as she’d remembered. Valentine imagined running her tongue down it and those lips. Lips that she wouldn’t mind tasting, feeling and having run up and down every part of her body. All of her lusted after him. Nothing had changed after all this time. Just the mere thought made her nipples hard and achy.Down girl, down, she thought to herself. He made his way over toward the counter where she stood. He had the cutest smile on his face. She figured he’d caught her checking him out. Can I be any more embarrassing? He made her weak in the knees even before he spoke a single word. “I want to taste your cookies,” he said, and a devilish smile followed. “Excuse me?” Valentine responded. “I said I wanted to taste your cookies… and whatever else you’ll give me,” he replied. Oh, I’d love for you to taste more than just my cookies. If she didn’t work in a bakery, she’d have thought he was using a pick-up line. Some had tried, thinking it would work. It never had, and it only made them look foolish. “Forgive me. My name is David…”
